Default Hypothetical Business Question

Friend of mine was unemployed and couldn't find work so he went door to door with a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towel now he employees 3 and makes a very good living, another friend sames situation he had an old pick up truck and started cleaning up garbage for little money, he later got into chemical clean ups at small factory locations, as he got more involved he got familiar with OSHA and EPA standards companies started calling him from all over the world for advise and clean up.

Two real good business start ups with little to no capitol, question is if you had to start out with nothing or with no more than say $100.00 what direction would you or could you create employment for your self.

Merry Christmas Gregg

There is good money in mowing lawns. If you get into mowing businesses it gets even better. I saw a story of a 15 year old kid who had three trucks and 5 employees mowing yards. He started it at 12 and he hopes to get his license soon so he can drive himself.

I'm surprised that will work in Texas. Out here in Southern California, there's no money in that. All your competition doesn't have any overhead like income taxes, auto insurance, health insurance, etc.

They probably don't have any of that?

Paid under the table - no income tax
Truck - no insurance
Employees - no benefits
etc

Works about anywhere.

I had a friend who started cleaning a bank in the night for a company while in high school, he broke off & took the the bank as his first cleaning spot as they liked his work & he bid them a little less to start. He got a few more places as time went on, now he is semi-retired & at the age of 40 he was able to sell a part of his company to one of his employees & kept a small part I think it was 10% & now at age of 58 he is a millionaire & doesn't have to work at all. When he started he had only about $ 50.00 worth of his own cleaning stuff but worked at it & got other building to clean & well he beat the system now. It can still be done with a little bit of drive but DRIVE is the key.

I was trying to say (in a PC way), there's no way to beat the illegals on price.

I started my business with just the truck I was driving. I pulled into a Chevy dealership with a 3 year old Nissan Pathfinder that I owned, leased a new Tahoe and walked out with a $10,000 check. I used that as a deposit on a building lot, got the developer to hold a 2nd on the lot and the rest is history.

You need to decide how much risk you are comfortable living with in your life. The amount you can accept is directly proportional to the amount of return you will get.

There is money in scrap metal. Appliances, car parts, etc.

Heard about one guy who had a resale shop. Went to garage sales, estate sales, etc, bought items, and resold them for a profit.

I work for a lady here in DE with a huge flower garden. That got me working with a couple of others for their yards. All under the table. Not bad but a lot of hard work. Great for younger guys.

My ventilation buisness could be a huge money maker but.... you have to break the mindset of those that sell ventilation other products that are ineffective or use electricity. Most only work in the spring, summer and fall when there's nothing covering the vent. And most will still let rain and snow into your attic. Mine works all year long and no snow, rain or animals get inside. A little pricey but well worth the ease of mind it brings. Install and forget about it... all chimney effect. No moving parts at all.... attic attic air is all moved chimney effect. No moisture that causes mold or mildew.

Now if you could start a buisness like this Greg and get the sales, you'd do great in no time.
