Default 1977 grand Prix

I am wanting to remove the plastic laceing that covers the ends of the headliner above the doors so I can re-die them. It seems that there might be spots where they are latched. Is there any documentation that shows how to remove the plastic strips without breaking them? Are the strips above the windshield and back glass made of metal?
Thanks.

No the pieces above the front & back glass are plastic & all they are held on by is a pinch type of clamp. There should be I think 6 of them that hold the front & the rear will just pop off. The side pieces are a large clip that looks like a big plastic nail. It will have a piece that is a step lever on the inside on the nail. It will most likely break to get it out but you can get them at any body shop to replace them. IF you can get in behind them you can puch up on the little lever on the inside of the clip & it may release but most of the time they were put in upside down & you can't get them to release. The plastic clip will be brittle any way so you will break them to get them out usually.

Thanks Rexs73GTO!! A VERY helpful reply. Looks like I will be going to the body shop as all of that trim needs to be shot with SEM.
