I hated to see it go but had lost interest. It'd been hanging around since 2007. Here's what it looked like when I bought it..

Hey 1970gpsj4speed, Did you like the repop in general? I am on the fence on trying to locate a nice original wheel, or go with the repop. I know this is a old post, but did you sell the repop? My interior is mint so I would not mind a little patina on the original, but not too rough or it will look out of place with the rest of the car....

LOVE all the rides in here guys!!!!
So I'm somewhat new around here, and have ALWAYS loved the 69 GP. This last September I ran into the perfect car for me. A really nicely restored J with it's original 428 (made into a HO). The previous owner did a beautiful resto to it and tossed in a 200R overdrive during the process. Perfect for what I will be doing with the car. Hot Rod Power Tour and POCI in June. Love this car! I don't think it will ever leave my collection! I one day want to own a 4 speed car. This was the moment I got it home (drove it from Phoenix to Chicago) and the wife hopped right in and wanted to take it for a spin. (and she did) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A few of the resto: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Anyone know if all posts with pics are reviewed before showing up or is because I am new here? I posted some of the 69 I picked up this last September, but they never showed up here? I don't want to post twice in case they do. I notice if I post like this they show right up but I think I remember when I did the pics yesterday it said something about them getting reviewed or something?

After 3.5 years the car is back to life, (With a lot of help from PY and the great members on this site). 1970 SJ, 455 HO, Auto, California Emission car. last licenced for the road in 1979. The car sat (rusty) in Nova Scotia, Canada for 30 + years. I originally bought the car for the engine, but once I tallied all the options I couldn't do it! Unfortunately, due to my job, I recently moved to the west coast and the car is sitting 3200 miles away near Syracuse NY. Hopefully we reunite in the spring! (any suggestion on a good car carrier co?) All the best in 2014.
Dan Attached a few pictures of the final product! Last edited by The-Surveyor; 01-01-2014 at 11:07 AM. Reason: Forgot to mention PY |

Hey Dan, Congrats ,that`s a real beauty you`ve got there ! Back in the day, I had a `69 with the silver/black vinyl top and love the color scheme. Nice job on it.

still wondering how long it takes to get pictures up? Can't seem to get any size avatar to work either. Oh well I was going to try to show you guys a couple shots of a rotisserie resto on the 69 I bought but it looks like I can't post pictures for whatever reason.
Hope you all have a fantastic 2014! Quote:

Thanks for the kind words! It nice to finish the car, but what now?
As for the colour, I've seen a lot of GPs and I always spend a little more time looking at a silver and black GP? Happy new year! |

Thank you guys. I appreciate the comments...Yes someone did spend a ton of time bringing her back. From what it sounds like, he was a big time Pontiac fan. Unfortunately I was never able to meet the person who restored the car, but needless to say when I saw it I HAD to have it. I had my heart set on a triple midnight green 69 and I missed one by days. Shortly after that this one fell in my lap by a really strange course of events. I had ever seen the Castillian Bronze color on a car before. With the black interior and top it's a beautiful combo. I love this color. The triple green quickly faded away when I saw this one in person. I can't tell you how much I love driving this car, and I am sitting here typing this looking out the window at over a foot of fresh snow and 35 to 40 below windchills. =( so that won't be happening anytime soon.
I have always wanted a 69 and I don't know if I would be able to find one much cleaner. I paid for it, but IMO worth every single penny. I love this car. Keep posting your rides guys because I love these GP's!!!!! |
