I have several customers using the 2802 cam in high compression 400's running deep into the 12's with full weight street driven Firebird's. Seems like the 2802 is to the high compression 400 like the old Wolverine 5059 cam is to 10 to 1 compression 455's.
Both cams share similar slow "lazy" lobe profiles, tons of off seat timing and wide LSA, no quick ramp "whiz-bang" stuff like the newer grinds, but they just flat work in those applications. Best part is that those cams make the higher compression engines very friendly for lower octane pump gas. As good as the 2802 works in a 400 engine, I use and prefer the Crower 60243. It will make over 1hp/cid with no head porting at all in a 400 with 10 to 1 compression, on pump gas. It's a bit more "aggressive" than the 2802, acting much like an 041 cam does in a 455 build.....Cliff
