Well it's bad news for the 57-wagon, was gona take it on it's first test
drive today and it kept acting like it was running out of fuel it had done
it a couple times when running it in the shop well then it started poping
and mis fireing so I started checking this and that and I believe the fuel
line back by the tank is losse and sucking air but the misfireing had me
puzuled. Last night I had filled the radiater and thought I would check
to see if it needed any water and it was dry again so yep I pulled the
dip-stick and milk half way up the stick. All the water is in the pan.
Now I ran this motor on my test stand and all was good but I never run
any water in the motor never got it overly hot not at all I had started
it in the car quite a few times also. the motor sounds like a beast.
No problems what so ever untill I put water in it. I never took it to
my machine shop cause it had nearly perfect bores just did some
major kleen-up. Never would of thought it would have an internal
crack in it so the last 6-months of time on this thing was a waist.
I could of repaired one of my other cars and been racing this summer.
So I'm going to step back and figure out what I'm going to do.

Don't be so sure there's a crack, it could be just a blown gasket. If you haven't run it for any length of time with coolant the engine may be okay otherwise.

This is a stock bore with forged pistons and I want to use them.
I've got other blocks just not sure if I have a nice stock bore block.
Could a bad timing chaine cover be the colprit? Hmmm

Well guess what I found the water leak getting into the oil
Dumb a$$ me forgot to tighting the timing chain cover go figure huh
Tore the motor down and checked the bearings and all are fine like
brand new still. Just got one heck of a mess to clean up then
back together. I can't beieve I did something so stupid well at
lease eveything is good and did not hurt any bearings.
I will report back later when I can do the shake down test run

Well It's a bad update! on the motor in the 57-wagon.
I tightened the timing chain cover and started the process all over
again and still got water in the oil, So I pulled the motor again
and put a different one in, now I've just got to work out the little
bugs with the car but I did get to drive it down to the gas staion
and put some more gas in it and of corse it stranded me there with
out my phone or jump box or anything EEEeeeeeehhh.
A local guy there gave me a jump and I buggied my butt back to
the shop. The car with I'm guessing 1960's tires drives really nice.
Hope to be driving pretty soon.
Haven't check the leaky motor out yet, let you know when I do
