Transmission Dip Stick Tube
I just purchased the correct transmission dip stick and tube for my 67 GTO with the T-400 transmission. Removing the non correct tube was easy. Attempting to install the new one is where my question comes in. Due to the angle of the opening on the trans body, I am unable to insert the tube. With the angle needed to insert the tube, there does not appear to be enough space between the block and firewall. The tube is not bent and once inserted there is plenty of clearance.
Looking at the angle, it appears that the transmission will need to be dropped, tube inserted, then put the trans back in. Can someone please confirm or deny the dropping of the transmission to insert the transmission dip stick tube? |

You might get just enough room if you unbolt the rear trans mount and jacking up on the REAR of the trans. This will tilt the engine forward giving you a little more room at the firewall.

Thank you for the reply with a great idea, however I have already tried that option and was unsuccessful. Any additional suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
