Nowhere near a mid 30K Chevelle in my book.

I was thinking the same thing...Not real up on Chevelle prices but I know a '67 GTO in that condition would probably be in the mid 20s. Nice car but looks like a real clean driver and mid 30s ought to be show car price. They could have at least sprung for a new exhaust system at that price.

Tell him to check here for similar cars and prices...It's the PY for Chevelles. Pays to be an educated buyer.

Hmm have to agree with the above posts, car is overpriced. I think for that money the interior would be mint not faded and cracked dirty. The color should be Marina blue correct (lighter) and the under carrriage and all components be restored and cleaned up.
Way better examples out there IMO. |

What are they drinking ?? That is a cobble job on the underside...
Just a glorified driver in my book...about 1/2 asking price for me...maybe..

60 man hit the nail on the head.
Looks like a long time sitter....the gas tank tells me the tale of that car!! Interior is a little on the funky side, I would wonder what the body looked like before paint. I would not go over 15K. lots better out there for 30K |

I have 2 buddies who are BIG TIME into Chevelles. After hearing a lot of Chevelle talk over the years I've picked up on a few things.
From 64-68 the Chevelle SS had a separate VIN. Base Malibu's started with a 136 and SS cars started with 138. After 68 starting with the 69 model year the SS became a Malibu option and the ONLY way to tell an SS car from a Malibu was with a build sheet. This is why just about every Chevelle on ebay or at a cruise night has SS badges. The seller claims that this is a 138 Chevelle which documents it as a true SS so that does hold a certain value. What I don't see is whether it's a number's matching car or not. If it's a number's matching true SS, it does hold a special value especially to Chevelle enthusiasts. That being said, the overall condition of the car does not warrant that mid-30's price.

As a former 66 Chevelle owner, I'd be asking what's original and what's not. "Built to 375 HP specs" indicates it was originally a regular 396. Depends on what the buyer is looking for, a show car or something fun to drive.

Maybe 17K on a good day. I've seen laser straight black cars with 396's for less then what they're asking.

Who would invest in trick rear control arms and then just spray bomb the rear cover? I understood "138" designates SS-396, not just any SS. |

Any classic car being sold from there I'd need to go over with a fine tooth comb (rust belt). Unless it had provinance it came from out west. You can tell this Chevelle did not. There's a place in Manchester NH that deals nice rust free muscle cars. Their prices can't be any more salty than that place. http://carrollstauto.com/site/inventory.htm |

I would totally pass on that car. The entire undercarraige sucks. And I would bet on rust under that paint.
