Smile ...And the top o' the morning to ye!

The great-great-grandson of Thomas Robert Dillon, who departed County Kilkenny on the auld sod for these shores in 1847, wishes you a happy St. Patty's Day.

So if some Gaelic blood flows in your veins, tell us all about it.

My maternal grandfather was Irish.....and an alcoholic.....and owned a bar......and ran a bookie business in the back room of his drycleaners store.

So, nope. No stereotype here.

100% Irish here - family from County Cork.

Had lunch at the bar with Jeremy - what a coincidence!

Does this look familiar? We've just got to get Raesha to work on the foam shamrock for next year.

As usual, pulled out my Irish music ... some vinyl, some CD, some tape, and Hmmm ... Ever noticed that there are a LOT of Irish Drinking songs, and even more Irish Songs of Rebellion?

I guess that sums up my Gaelic blood-lines.

Hey aren't we all Irish today? I did my part helping my wife cook St Patty's Day dinner. She's Irish. I'm, well, far from Irish.

Come all ye young rebels, and list while I sing,
For the love of one's country is a terrible thing.
It banishes fear with the speed of a flame,
And it makes us all part of the patriot game.

My name is O'Hanlon, and I've just turned sixteen.
My home is in Monaghan, and where I was weaned
I learned all my life cruel England's to blame,
So now I am part of the patriot game.

This Ireland of ours has too long been half free.
Six counties lie under John Bull's tyranny.
But still De Valera is greatly to blame
For shirking his part in the Patriot game.

St. Patrick's Day means an anniversary around my house. Tonight makes 40 years since our first date. We just got in from a nice dinner that would have been equal to a weeks pay back then. It was worth it!

My wife's great grandfather Cornelius Fahey came from Ireland abroad the Manhattan on 24 May 1867 as a laborer. Worked for Cincinnati Gas & Electric. Died in 1895 at work in an elevator accident, not uncommon in those days. A family member stole the deceased man's money and caused a rift in the family. Who it was is lost to history. The kids changed their names to Fay to disavow their relationship to the offending Fahey. Cincinnati had excellent city directories, so it was fairly easy to look everyone up, but lots of people with the same or similar names! All of their addresses are now highrise office building near downtown Cincinnati.

I am from the blood line O' Grady. Came here from County Cork.

Proud of my Irish background!

Had a beer and toasted my departed Father this evening.

My Irish blood line goes back a long way. Robert Looney came from The Isle of Man in 1732. His family was in Ireland a few hundred years before that. We think the family name in Ireland was originally O'Lowney. Robert's grandson changed his name to Luna as there were too many Looney's around. The jokes can start now.

My friend, Mick, is originally from Dublin. He talks about the different pubs he finds where he can get a good pint of Guinness. I tell him that such a thing doesn't exist. Then he tells me "that's ****e".
