In fact, they made 1968 GTOs with the 2bbl option on the very first day of production, at Pontiac, on August 9, 1967. At least 1 was produced within the 1st 110 V8 cars that rolled down the line (Pontiac being the first plant to produce cars for the 1968 model year).

I might even know where this car is... Hmmmmm

Notice how the date code was listed...

My first GTO was a 2bbl (I was not exactly on the ball, I only noticed it had a 2bbl when I got her home). It was a low option hardtop; Warwick blue, parchment bench with only p.s. and an AM radio.

When I got it it was painted CR with judge stickers but no stripes or wing. It was a s***box but I must admit in normal city driving it had nicer initial response than a 4bbl car with the same 2.93 gears would have had.

I believe that many of the 2bbl cars ended up in rental car fleets.

Mine originally was Verdoro Green with parchment bench and column shifted. Only the original trans is still in it.

I have a 400 2bbl convert with 32,000 original miles sitting in the garage being restored. Red with black top and black interior.

I know mine has the his her shifter too. My car is 4 wheel non power drum and non power steering. Did anyone do an inventory of how many of the original 432 cars are left?

Even 355 H-O's and 265 hp 355 2bbls came with his/hers T-400's. The H-O's when making the A/T selection automatically got you a T-400. The 355 2bbl, you had to specify T-400 or ST-300.

Like most my 2bbl has been changed over to 4bbl . I think the numbers of 2bbl GTO's untouched would be quite small now.

You can't spot them on the 69 PHS because it was a no charge option. Not sure if 67-68 PHS is the same problem.

I guess the only way to know for sure is by engine VIN, trans code, axle code or actual build sheet. I would imagine many on the road now have been made into regular 350horse cars.
