I installed one Monday. Piece of pie. I understand the concern about not being able to actually SEE it, but the math is there. Mine passed the "two fingers" test (two fingers on the snout of the crank with all the mains torqued in, crank turns easily), so I'm certain it's properly seated. It's similar in nature to the seals in Rover 2.3 and 2.5 4-cyls from the '60s. When properly installed, those NEVER leak, FOR YEARS.

I made sure I used high temp grease between the seal lips but the outside dia. was nice and clean. Not bashing at all I just want to make sure I'm doing things right and it don't leak.

Thanks guys
I am running one. I was a little freaked out too. I put mine in just the cap and block, no crank and the ends touched. Its a real nice piece. the vacuum gauge tells all...18-19 inches. Highly recommend it.

Default ETA of 3.25"?

Can we get an estimated time of when the 3.25" one piece rear main seal will be available for purchase?
Thanks!

Several runs and multiple warm-ups on alcohol and 90% nitro. Bone dry in the rear, front leaking a little as usual. The nitro eats out the low grade rubber used in the front seal and I have to change it every 3 runs. Hey BOP, how about a quality viton front seal to go with this awsome rear one? National/CSK/ NTN all some low quality rubber that turns to jelly when exposed to nitro. Many would benefit from a leak free front seal no matter what they are running. Thanks for the new quality rear seal. One of the few things that worked this weekend!

I just want to clarify, this dual lip seal shouldn't have any issues with the serrations in factory crankshafts? The original 2 piece lip seal was on its way to death when I freshened my motor last time. I believe those serrations had caused the issue.

Im curious how thin/thick of a blade do you use to cut the seal........it doesn't say, I'm sure it would have to make a difference.
