Default 5 sec. pool

Anyone here want to get in on a pool? There's about 4 people trying to run the first 5 sec. Pontiac powered quarter mile. I'll put up $500 if the other parties do the same and the first one in the fives gets it. Eric is taking a shot at it in a week, Vinny sometime this year, Rodney and Travis are definitely capable, and I might put the old motor together this year and try again.

I just think it's a pretty big milestone, it would be cool if the winner got something extra for the time, money, and effort it's taking. Plus it adds to the excitement.

Good luck everyone.

There's a good chance we'll be knocking at the door for awhile longer before we get in. Not sure there will be any miracles next weekend, but we'll give it a try.

I'll be a good sport and get in on that for $500.

Steve....get that motor together!!

I'm good for a $500 spot. We did some pretty good damage in Phoenix, so we're down for a little while. I'm hoping Eric knocks it out of the ball park and tags that 5 in St. Louis and quiets the Pontiac nay-sayers.

That is the ultimate goal....to prove that a Pontiac can do anything the Brand X motors can do.

What the h&ll is wrong with you three? You trying to ruin this place!

A friendly wager among a group of guys with a similar goal!?

What about your staging differences? Tire selection? DYNO results? Parts selection? Computer simulations? There must be something you can argue and trash talk about.

Please try to stay focused here.

Funny post Dan. If it were a bet I'd be asking for odds, after all it's two nitro cars against one alcohol car (and I'm not forgetting the twin turbo car)

On a serious note, I wonder if we could get some product suppliers, engine shops, ect. to kick into the pool.

No sympathy for the alcohol car who set the bar that everybody else is chasing.

I was working on that as you posted it.
The problem I see is the parts most of you use are custom made, so finding a Pontiac Co to chip in might be hard. Now internal parts, transmissions, converters , ETC might be available. I'm open to ideas?

I wonder if a fuel retailer or distributor would be willing to pony up some methanol. Even though a couple of us use nitro at varying percentages, we still use a lot of methanol. The ones in my neck of the woods play their operations close to the bone, but I'll ask.

Motel rooms and diesel fuel would help the quest.

If there is a traditional Pontiac Powered riding mower, weedeater, snowmobile, or go cart that can run a 5.9999 or better, they take home the money.
