have photos of a Neatural Safety Switch for Manual Trans??
I'm looking to see if someone can snap a photo or two of how the neatural safety switch is setup on a manual car
I believe it is connected to the clutch pedal?? i did a conversion on mine some 20 years ago and looking to finally install the NSS the factory way before i decide to connect it to the one on the TKO trans i have now not sure if i am missing brackets or holders for the switch I have a 79 TA thanks |

Are you speaking of the clutch safety switch? I converted my 71 auto to a manual setup the clutch safety switch connects to the top of the pedal, there should be 2 holes on the mount for the switch ans a locator pin if I can recall, then a single hole for the slider that activates the switch in the pedal itself. I believe the neutral switch is activated by the back drive linkage turning the collar on the steering column. But I think this only comes into play for an auto, but uses the same purple wire connector but with a pigtail to lengthen.
I will look to see if I have any snap shots of the mock up. Steve

yes talking about the clutch switch
and that photo helps let me check out my pedal assy to see what i need i'd prefer to connect it the factory way, but i do have the option to route wires under the car to the trans so that lever/rod on the switch just snaps into the clutch pedal? i'm assuming that all comes as one piece when you buy it just wanted to make sure i get everything i need |

Yes one bolt and the other end just snaps in. This is the factory setup for the switch. Obviously I am using a hydraulic MC for the clutch.
There is nothing to hook up under the car. The only thing you will have to do if you converted an auto car is lengthen plug with a.pigtail so it reaches. If its a.manual car from factory its plug and play.

the TKO has a provision for a NSS on the trans itself which is normally closed in neautral and open otherwise, which is why i mentioned connect underneath
guess this is a NSS to being called a clutch switch, but nonetheless gets what i need accomplished, so i can get through tech without worries i'd prefer to not run wires that long if i can avoid it and would like to set it up the factory way I'll put this on my to order list for the next time thanks helps me out |

Hardly. It's because the original column designs with all of these switches were for column shifts which rotated the entire column to select the gear and resulting back lights or neutral positioning determining. GM just adapted the designs with some changes over the years rather than redesign the entire thing (which eventually happened in the 80's). We're talking late 50's and early 60's technology here, the parts all exchanged over the GM lines for almost 30 years saving money.
