The gaps on the nose of my Bird need some work. It's been driving me nuts since I bought the thing and it's time to do something about it. Just to be clear, I'm only talking about the nose, gaps on the doors and hood look good. It looks as though the nose was put back together a little crooked. The gap between the headlight surround and fender is too big on the right and too small on the left. Kind of like it isn't perpendicular to the body. I only need to tweak it between 1/8 and 1/4 of an inch. Suggestions? Words of wisdom before I start unbolting things?

Has anybody done a write up on how to put these things back together?

Before taking anything apart or moving things around, get underneath the car and make sure the subframe is square in the car. If it's not, you may never get the beak aligned to the fenders and hood properly.

Thanks. Good place to start. I'd also like to find a good description of how that nose is put together. That would really help in figuring this whole thing out (assuming of course the subframe looks like it's in alignment).

It's been several years since I had mine apart, but If I recall correctly, there's a main support brace that attaches to the frame rails towards the bottom of the front clip. There's two large bolts that hold it in place. From there it mounts to the rad support cross-members to keep it upright. The chrome beak and headlight surround pieces are bolted in place from there.
