79 T/A in Oregon at $8750 BIN. Rust free bodies on these cars is more than a huge plus.

68 GTO convertible tribute in Michigan at $15K NR. If you removed the front air dam and the rear wing this car would look 100 X better IMO. Needs an interior, but the engine and paint look tight for at least a 10 footer.

68 GTO in Florida at $7K BIN. No engine/trans or interior, but if you're looking to build a hot rod with a custom chassis I would think the chassis alone on this car is worth $7K.

69 Lemans in Florida with no bids at $2500. I sent the seller an e-mail regarding the engine and received these pics when asked for the head and block numbers/letters. The first is a 4, but I can't make out the following number.

That's a nice looking car. I like that color red, at least how it looks in the photos.

That 74 Formula looks like it is a good to great deal, but the aftermarket 1980's sunroof ruins it for me.

Ya what a shame...someone left chocolate candies all over the console too - otherwise nice and fair price

When I see a car like this I'll add in the positives vs. what the negatives are. [JMHO] The roof can be fixed. It's not like they put a T-Top roof on it that cuts into the top frame. The interior is very nice and the dash looks great... big plus. A console and lid is cheap. If the body is as nice as it seems, this is a very good base for a T/A clone. I'd fix the roof and put T/A fenders on it from pretty much any 70-81 T/A. Add a 70-75 T/A hood with a repro ram air shaker. Add a nose from any 70-73 Firebird (original) and a lower valance and the Trans AM spoilers (all repro). Paint it Lucerne (Lucy) Blue with a solid white stripe. Drive it around with the current engine, or upgrade later.
[/JMHO]

They're very cool cars and they are sharp for sure. But, I still rather have a Lucy blue T/A.

Can't blame a guy for trying?

Pretty nice for a chevontiac...just look at the crazy prices on BAT altho it seems to be a bellwether of the market in general.

I don't think he's far off the mark at $42K. If you know anyone who has bought, or is trying to buy a new car these days the prices are stupid high. I've been into Pontiacs since I was 16 and I remember the days you could find GTO's, first gen birds, hell I even found an original RAIV intake manifold on a 75 Firebird in Pick-A-Parts in CA. Those parts are gone now and those you can buy are stupid high.

Take that car as a decent convertible Tempest with no rust? Now get the body straight and have it painted... how much for that? Now put an LS engine in it with a new trans and add power FDB and PS... how much for that?

I get where you guys are coming from, but if you just wanted a nice driving updated drivetrain that fired right up and ran beautifully, this car is pretty nice. I like the engine. I have over $14K in the 400 Pontiac in my 75 Trans AM. Those parts are cool when done, but the parts aren't cheap. I replaced everything but the crank and rods... everything. 72 cc Edelbrock D-port heads along with an all aluminium top end with Trans AM RAIII exhaust manifolds into a Thrush exhaust. It's fun and it's fast, but it runs like all Pontiacs run when they're built in the 70's. If the same car had a smooth running newer FI intake, it would be nicer to drive. I'd do it differently if I got to jump in the wayback machine. A new crate Chevy 350 is half the price of building a Pontiac engine. An LS engine is more expensive and the LS3 in my 2010 Camaro SS is a friggin monster with 426 hp and a six speed stick. The short-throw shifter in this car is really cool if you've never driven one. A Pontiac 4-speed takes a good foot long throw to shift gears. This car felt strange the first time I drove it, because all I'd even driven before was my 70 GTO 455. Shifting gears is really fast and this car is fun. When I take off from a dead stop and punch it, I'll hit the red line at 6K around 50 MPH and put it in second and pull my foot off the gas and it slows down to 65 mph. It's also hard to break the tires loose and it handles awesome. Good news is the price on these newer retro-based cars is also going up. I've rented high end Mustangs and Mopars and while the Mustangs I drove were not very good, the Mopars were.

Bottom line the car needs the tail panel changed to a GTO one and a set of bucket seats. I love red interiors and I found a full set of Inferno orange seats for my Camaro shipped for $1200 off eBay and these are SS only leather seats with "SS" in the headrest. They had <40K on the donor car and it's such a cool red. These are nice seats with air bags and they are beautiful. The 2010 SS rear seat is a fold-down. I really doesn't look too complicated to see if it would work in a first gen... not sure about the GTO. I'd put a black set of buckets in this car with new door panels and be done. I'd drive it just like it is, but the tail panel would bug me less than the interior. I'd guess a good deal on a car like this is $35K... that's a good deal, because it would probably cost you more to build it. I don't have $42K and I'm looking to downsize, but if I just wanted to buy something to drive, I could see paying more than $35K for a car like this. Dern nice looking car.

eBay Linky to Camao seat example. I have the black fold-down rear seat out of my 2010 that's like new. I traded the front seats (60K on them) for a pile of flagstone to my bud who's putting them in his 55 Chevy truck. If you're interested in getting the dimensions or buying it PM me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/14458585115...0AAOSw7tNimkfy

73 GTO in CA and the dude needs money. Ad states $8.8K will buy it and they just fixed a lot of things. 87K miles and it's a CA car, so prolly no rust. These cars are an acquired taste, but I really like them.
