Thought it would be even lower than that number.

Total with 455HO was 321 (Auto + 4spd combined)
Curious whether you think was a good deal? Was that car worth that much without the drive train?

That would be a fairly easy engine to duplicate (YC with 66 heads - any 71 full size 455 the same)
About the only way I see that car being worthwhile is if someone had a nice plain jane Firebird they were really bored with, and could move everything over to that Formula.

Will be a dynamite car if ever revived.
Not worth HO money - but valuable.

68 Firebird 350 with what looks like a 4-speed in Pennsylvania at $8.5K BIN. Says number matching, but the heads look like 94 which is a 1971 headcast. Block looks like a YM, but I can't tell for sure? If is is a 68 YM, that would be a 350HO block.

Buried in the description: "The letter code stamped on the head on the front of the engine is YU."

No YU in 68 per Wallace site.

What heads were on a 71 YU 350? 69 YU?

They are 11 on my 70 YU.

94 heads would be inline for 1971 numbering, considering the good 400 heads were #96 that year. And I don't feel like doing the legwork to verify
These 94 heads dont have outer bolt holes for the headers like a 68 head would.

Sometimes when VIN on the title matches the VIN on the car , they think that means numbers matching.

Tnx! I know thews has a couple 350HOs and they are uniquely cool to me too so it caught my attention. Seems this FB has a 71 350, possibly with original heads.

68 400 4-Speed shell at $1700 BIN in SC. Rusted, but claims to have a clear title. Curious about the colors it came with. Body is off the frame. No engine/trans.

Flambeau Burgundy ! Super Color
with black vinyl top

It is in the date range to have highly special potential.
No way to know or distinguish that without PHS

It has been ended , so either someone saw the potential , ran PHS , got lucky , and bought it !

Or someone notified the seller and alerted him to the fact, and he ended the listing until he could verify if it might have been a RamAir DeuceBird.

(insert suspenseful and dramatic music here)

It didn't sell the first time for $2500 and didn't sell again for $1700. You could probably ping the guy and make him an offer. Cool color. Here's one with a white top.

73 Formula auto Firebid in SC at $13K BIN OBO. Has a NOM 1973 YC 455 engine that runs. Cool car, but the rust could be a bigger issue than I could guess based on the pictures. Seller states there's rust under the vinyl top. If this is the car you want it's not priced too bad.... maybe make an offer. Personally, I'd rather start with CA or Nevada rust free base body and build what you want if there was a lot of metal work required. Underside doesn't look too bad, but I'm not sure where the rust hides on these cars. It's what I'm going to do with my 80 Trans AM WS6. I have a T/A 72 nose and hood, so it'll look like I want from the front. From the rear it will look like an 80 T/A, but I really like the taillights on the 80-81. It has T-Tops, which is a big give away from the front view, but i don't care.

68 Pontiac Firebird that isn't finished for $80K BIN OBO. Claims to have $120K invested. I appreciate the work that went into this, but I really think it's too much. When I watched the Jay Lenno Youtube clip with a 68 Firebird Sprint convertible, he mentioned driving cars that were over-powered being uncomfortable to drive and the Sprint 6 handled very well. This is 2012 580 HP engine. The car has suspension and brake mods, so maybe it could be a stable driver?

He laid a bundle of dough into it from firewall - forward.

76 Pontiac Astre at $1 NR in Chicago. When I was 16 there was a kid in town that put a Pontiac 455 in one of these... bent the frame. That interior is drop dead sexy.

While the interior is in great shape, that is the basest HB Astre I have ever seen, the only options I see are Automatic trans & Sport mirrors, It has the base interior with the ugly door panels and the uncomfortable Vega seats, the weak base rims that tend to bend (though I like the arrow head dog dish's) and the (really bad ) rust repair to the to the spare tire well concerns me to what the rest of the floor boards look like.
Also I don't know what happened to the top of the header panel, they are metal so its not like it is warped plastic.

Nice to see one still driving though
