That TA clone looks pretty nice, neat that it is a legit 400HO, 4spd and AC combo, super rare in of itself. It wasn’t a RA car though in terms of having been built with a RA system.

What does the "RA" on the build sheet mean?

Early production 400 HO 69 Firebirds use the Ram Air name for the 400HO option, they realized the confusion and changed it to 400HO on the invoice during the model year (there is a bulletin about it).

The confusion stems from the fact that on the 69 GTO the 400HO option included the Ram Air system (and was therefore called Ram Air 400) but on the Firebird the Ram Air set up was a separate option offered only if you also ordered the 400 HO.

Lastly, the Ram Air hood inlet option was only released mid year so this car in question is built much too early to have had that option.

Like North stated - 69 was wacky on initial HO and RA designators. Even on early production WS engine GTO's.

Birds have to have 400 HO engine and option 611 (iirc) Hood Air Inlet ,,,, to be actual RA with Dport engine.

They also deleted all the AC equipment and changed the Custom Deluxe interior to Standard on that Bird. Very weird to have back stepped those features on what appears like a mostly nice build.

Would much rather have it as it's original Crystal Turquoise 400 4spd high option pedigree configuration versus a TA clone. Really strange choices made by someone.

There was a lot of confusion in the 69 MPC about Ram Air versus Ram Air IV versus HO on 69 engines. Pontiac often used the terms interchangeably causing a lot of errors because sometimes they meant RA IV when they printed RA. So people with a regular RA (colloquially called RA III nowadays) ended up ordering parts for a RA IV.

68 Firebird convertible in NY at $52K BIN. There's a lot I like about this car as the build quality looks awesome. The buyer bought this painted, so all the interior and mechanical work was done in the last two years. That's a lot of work when you include 4WD and all the other mechanical upgrades. Now break down the ROI. Interior: IMO this kind of interior is a positive ROI. Sound damping was installed and it looks pro. Engine: 350 with a 4-barrel 0.060 over. I would not have gone this route. I have a 69 Firebird 350HO convertible and I looked everywhere starting in the late 90's to find a WC 350HO auto block, and I could never find it (I did about 2 years ago, but not worth it now). This was early 2000's and Pontic blocks were easy to find. I found a 400 2BBL block out of a 68 wagon and used that as the base. My logic was assuming since it was in a wagon, it was not abused. I found some #62 heads on eBay for $1500 that was dropped off in a machine shop to be rebuilt, and the guy never picked them up. A cam that was actually less lopey than stock to effectively reduce compression, but not by much. Point being it wasn't a RAIV cam that sounds lopey and runs hot. This engine is dressed in hot roddy garb to make it look fast with some chrome, but it's still a 350, and I think #17 heads. Now add up what it cost to add rear disc brakes, new transmission, posi rear etc., and that costs a lot when added up. If you drive the car a lot, then you chose wisely. The majority of cars like this have <2K miles on them. I think the moral of the story is that safety is always a good idea with disc brakes, PS/PB, shoulder belts, etc., but if it runs, just keep running it. Pontiacs will run for well over 100K if you take care of them. I like the car and I wish the seller luck, but the cars you can get for over $50K are typically flawless, like the tach is painted.
