I didn't know that. Seems odd to point it out, instead of just removing it.

The delete was only on the window sticker, not the PHS document. On page 95 of the Rocky Rotella book, he details the end date of the option and just how the credit was given. Interesting to note that the Super Duty Trans Ams and Formula 455 SD cars also had no ram air.

WCGTO, The credit was listed on the PHS since it had a cost associated to it. All TA's/SD Formula's with the shaker scoop were sealed from the factory since its application with the shaker door open exceeded drive-by noise limits at full throttle (hard to believe the feds didn't like that Q-jet roar!).

It's list as "TRANS AM OPT"...WS4

So the 73's were originally intended to have a functional shaker but it was deleted at the last moment because the car could not meet noise standards with it?

The SD Formula having the TA hood and not the Formula twin scoop hood also had the delete on it.

That what I was always told. This article doesn't mention the 73 Trans AM, but goes into detail on the 70-72 and 74 GTO shakers:

In addition to any added performance, the functional shaker hood scoop also gave a mental edge by providing the low-toned "4-barrel moan" true performance enthusiasts would come to expect from the not only the '70 1/2-72 Trans Am but also the '74 GTO.

70 Lemans Sport convertible in resale red at $23K in Tennessee. Rust concerns and the carb looks too big for the stock 350.

69 Bonneville convertible 428 with 78K miles at $25K BIN in Illinois. I think the rear wheel covers make the car look bloated.

Another 65 (hardtop) 4-speed in Florida with 83K miles at $62K BIN. If you've never owned a yellow car... it's a thing. I had a 76 yellow Camaro when I was 17 with fat Cragars and I thought it was cool. Most people will never own a yellow car.
