I have a can of matte clear model paint coming. The difficulty finding this part is why I am excited to try to find a way to replicate it cheaply, but in a reasonably accurate manner. |

Question: Since you'll be upping the engine HP power output, what are your plans for Clutch/Pres.Plate/Flywheel/ST-10 Transmission upgrades, if any? Quote:

Hard to believe you will see a lot of increase unless you help the exhaust. Put RARE exhaust manifolds on it at least. They flow as well as any 3 tube header without any of the headaches of headers.

You may be right, but based on the research I have done the general consensus seems to be that the log manifolds flow pretty good and lots of power has been made with these engines through these stock units. If I'm wrong you'll be the first to hear about it. I really want to keep the engine bay looking stock. We'll see....
On another note, I think I have the ported vacuum switch pretty much nailed. I blackened the base using a Sharpie and resprayed the whole piece with flat clear. It looks much better. Here's some pics. ![]() ![]()

Have you ever seen the RARE manifolds. Do not really stand out as not original IMO. I have them on mine.

Bob, you did a wonderful job.. Are you going to stamp part # on top?

I'm not sure whether to say "no" or "kiss my butt". It kind of depends on whether you're being serious or being an instigator. I'll just say no, but if you want to have a metal stamp made up I'll give it a shot.

Goatless here on the board is running mid 12's consistently through log manifolds in his 69 LeMans convertible - the exhaust should be fine if you're willing to put a test pipe in place of the converter or at least hog it out.

Yeah sure; but I read on the Internet that those "logs wouldn't work"..."and they can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true!" Bonjour!

If he did do that, they would think it's NOS, not a clean original.

I've been outed....I was hoping that nobody would notice, but I won the dumba_s award on this one. I put the battery together backwards the first time and have since fixed it. I sent the guy (Burd) I got the parts from pictures of the finished battery and two days later he had the same reaction - there's something not right. It turns out that I put the caps and everything else on 180 degrees off. Fortunately I attached everything with a few dabs of silicone and was able to reverse it.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes. |
