Will get that thread started soon and share some pics. Eager to get others opinions on my work and to help point out any issues they see.

No worries...same here as my 1st TA was a loaded Martini 1978 557 auto A/C WS6 driven hard-put up wet for approx 100,000+ miles...loved the 2:56 gear for high speed TX crusing. All original only replaced timing chain & gears as preventive maintenance.

No, clips or retainers present, I believe that was just a piece of tape. The speedo cable routing was one thing I was not completely happy with on the Gold Car. It almost seemed like the cable was shorter than it needed to be. I would love to see a picture of the assembly manual page showing the location of the clips.

I have a 77 but would imagine they are the same. On page 8-56, Fig. 8-81, VIEW A shows the routing of the cable with the clip on the inspection cover and one on the bell housing. If no one else can post it I could fax it to you.

Well, Burd sent me a ladder style wire tie that is "mint". I finally got it installed today, and now I am happy.

There's still a few things to do under the hood, but that will always be the case...

Had a great day yesterday. My knee has gotten better and I am once again able to drive a stick, so I emptied the garage took them all for a spin yesterday. While I had the garage empty I used a leaf blower to chase out all the dog hair and got the floor cleaned and mopped.

Reviving this in the post-Photobucket era....

Getting the Gold Car cleaned up and prepped for the TA Nats today. Pulled it outside to wash the wheels and tires. Then a coat of Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant, detail the engine bay and clean the interior.

It's done and ready. Looks pretty good for a 54K mile car with Van Nuys paint. Some respray on left rear quarter, but original paint, decals, trunk and interior. Full Monty resto underhood with a stealth 462 stroker. Correct block, heads, intake and carb, but inside is 550 ft lb of stroker torque. I love this car. It's a little rough around the edges and has some road rash, but so do I.

I think that's a great looking car. Really clean under the hood, and I love your choice of tires. I already regret going with radial TA's on my 79. These 78 just seem to be the year it all came together. How much restoration was done under the hood to get it so clean? A lot of your original pictures have been removed, so therefore its kind of hard to really appreciate the great job that you did.
