12V Switched source key on and while cranking
Hello, I could use some help. I'm installing the Edelbrock E-street EFI system on my '79 TA and it requires the trigger wire for the ECU be hooked up to a 12V switched power source that is live with the key in the on - or run - position as well as while cranking.
Is there an under hood location I can tap into that meets these requirements? Thanks in advance, Gary |

I think your best bet would be to use a bosh type relay to power the ECU. Like modern FI cars you'll have a constant power supply straight from the battery. Go ahead and tie IGN1 and IGN2 together right at the ignition swith and then splice off the distributor coil wire to trip the relay.

The wiring harness that came with the system does have a relay and it is wired straight to the battery. I was trying to find a source to trigger the system. The HEI has a large red wire from the alternator, just behind that is a smaller red wire that drops down and goes inside the distributor, that wire had 12V at run and crank positions. It is now running.

I have read to use the wiper motor for 12v power. Electric chokes often grab the power from this source.
