Fuel gauge
Does anyone know where to get a new fuel gauge for a 71 grand prix. Also do you have to take the whole dash out to replace it. thank's

Yes the entire padded dash needs to come out. The gauge can come out from the backside of the cluster but first you would have to remove the printed circuit.
I have good used gauges here or if you wanted to send me yours I can rebuild that one for you.

I am guessing........ but you have already eliminated a ground issue at the tank and the sending unit as not being the problem....
does the gauge not move ? or read way full ?? trying to save you pain from removing the dash......... and as a matter of fact I am pulling a 69 J model pad here in the next several days and can take step by step pics........ its been 25 years since I pulled a 69 sj pad ... I know theres a couple bit?h bolts can anyone verify the position of these ... seems they wer e near the radio and how to get to them ?? Scott |

It's been a long time but as I recall you had to first remove the driver's side A/C vent outlet and in behind there is a 1/2" hex headed bolt that points to the left.
Also up underneath the radio lower dash to the right there is another brace with the same sized bolt.
