Default Battery size 74?

Hey guys,

I need a new battery for my 76 GP. The original group size for the battery is 74 with side posts, but I can't find any available in this size. I want to use the original hold down clamp, so the battery should have the height of the original: 8 inch 3/4.

What's the solution to my problem?

Thanks,
Hans

Use a group 78.Put the spacer under it.You will need to boost it about 1 1/2 inches

There was a time after battery sizes changed they would enclose a plastic battery adapter tray with the purchase of any new battery. Going back a few years you could find these adapters in any junk yard mostly under mid 70’s Cadillac battery.

Thanks Guys,

Where can I buy the spacer, or does it come with some Group size 78 batteries?

Some batterys come with them.Probably going to have to ask the retailer about it though.I don't recall any group 78 that comes with one.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I will check with Auto Zone for a size 78 with spacer. I am sure I can find what I need now that know what to look for.
