ON the 1972 Lemans/GTO, I have what is I think a seat belt light under the brake light. How can I get this light to work?

Hook up 12v to it...seriously though its wired in to the front seat belt retractors,and the seats i believe.I replaced my 120mph seatbelt speedo with a 140mph cluster.i left the harness under the seats in case i ever went back,i doubt i will though.

The seatbelts warning system was introduced in December 1971 for January 72 production cars. It is complementary to the 3-points front seatbelts system. Both were introduced at the same time.

The system consist of a sensor in each of the lap belts retractors, a sensor under the passenger seat only, the gauge Warning light and a buzzer. The warning system will activate (light and buzzer) if the lap belts are not fasten and the car is in gear with the parking brake off. The passenger side will trigger only if there is 47 pounds on the seat. For all this to work properly, you need the correct dash harness, intermediate harness and wiring for the all the sensors.

Here is the Service News Bulletin with pictures and wiring diagram. I have pictures of the actual wiring, will check when I get back home.

Worf, that's complicated - I did find a electrical connector by the dr. side seat belt retractor (the cover is missing). I wonder if I can just make it work with just the light (no buzzer) on the drivers side section. Would be nice to see all the dash lights working instead of having that blank light under the speedometer.

Also, where is the buzzer assembly on a 1972 Lemans? Don't see it on the firewall anywhere.

In 72, the buzzer is under the dash, left side (if seating in driver seat). Its the grey relay near the steering column. You need all the wiring for it to work properly. Check under the seat/carpet for the seat sensor.

The August 1971 Service Manual wiring diagram shows the change.
