I was looking for the part no.that is stamped on the side of the carb and what part no. it would be for a 1969 Ram air IV carburetor.Is the 1970 the same number also?Also are the part no. different for a Trans Am ram Air IV carb?What is a 7040270 XA carb no. for?Thanks

From Pete McCarthy's book; 1969 RA IV automatic carb #7029270 and standard #702973 for both A body and F body. In 1970 the numbers are 7040270 automatic and 7040273 standard for both A and F bodies RA III and RA IV.

The 1970 carb numbers are also the same for the 1970 455HO cars. This makes those carbs ridiculously expensive.

The 7028273 as Tom refers to was used for RAIII manual cars up until around May if I remember correctly. I believe a 7028270 was used for RAIII automatics. The RAIII's received the same carb as the RAIV after the 28273/28270 carbs were exhausted.

Use of the 28273/28270 1968 Ram Air carbs on 69 cars created a lot of confusion before the internet came along.

I believe the first RAIV's arrived in Feb. 1969 and this was the first time the 7029273 and 7029270 carbs were used.

Appears to be a re-stamp, awfully clean sharp numbers and the 3 logs to be stamped differently.. Also looks to be a nice refurb.. Are the primary plates drilled?? I wouldn't mind having it though if it's up for sale!!!!

Thanks for your input. Plates are drilled. I found this carb in a box inside the trunk of my 69 Trans Am.
I'm not selling it at the moment.

Are the casting "circles" on the base plate, body, and inside the air horn (have to take horn off to see) all the correct numbers? There should also be a couple of numbers on the bottom of the body near the gas inlet . I think its 35010 and a separate 13.
