Default Moroso front trick springs on 1st gen FB

Anybody use these on a first gen firebird? Thinking of putting them on my car and I wanted to check which spring people have used and if it needed any trimming. I have 2.75" free travel and I'm looking for 5", my car weighs 3250 race weight not sure of front weight.

I put a set in my car over ten years ago, and they work fine for my bracket car. I had to take out the first set because they were too soft, I'll check my logbook an let you know which ones I ended up using, (no trimming). They cost about $60 when I bought them, now they are about $100. Santhuff's sound like better product, esecially if weight is a concern. I guess it depends on how much money you want to spend. I run travel limiters too, generally I keep the front as tight as traction allows.

I've got the 47195's in my car and did not trim them. Not sure of the front weight but the car is 3470 without me in it. Aluminum heads and intake, manual steering, steel hood, battery still up front, and no weight cut from the front of the car.

i have a set in my 'bird about 20 yrs ago. i dont remember the part number. but if i recall they were listed for a "heavy" small block camaro. I scaled the car front to back to choose the right spring. I didnt have to trim them at all. my car is 3500 with me in it.

I called Moroso but they would not give me a recommendation without the weight of the front of the car.

I installed the 47140's, the second heaviest, and they were too weak, so I removed them. I replaced them with the 47195's which are the heaviest of the four available, and they have worked out good for me.

I would recommend having it weighed. Most shops that build circle track cars or chassis shops have the scales. And its not expensive. That way you get the right spring the first time. I went for a spring rated just under my cars actual weight. It has a lot of travel and compressed energy. It also lets it sit just a little lower in the front which I liked.

#3535 in this picture. With the lighter springs installed I could grab the bumper and bounce the front end off the stops. I just felt they were too loose or soft, so they were replaced with the stiffest of those available from Moroso. It's a subjective decision I made, and it might have worked good with them, I just wanted them stiffer.

I suspect a 69 front end is heavier than a 67 & 68.

I don't know the price difference between the Moroso and the Santhuff' springs? If I were doing it now I would consider the Santhuff's for the weight loss alone. Maybe someone will tell use how much the Santhuff's cost?

Ron , told me get the lightest spring for most transfer, then control it with a good shock if I remember right! I told Ron weight and that I wanted about a 1" or so drop from my current height, he sent me the 200 rate ones, their perfect!

I'm looking to get a front stance similar to Brent and Grandville. Ponjohn, check what the part# is that you have. I'm thinking the 213#/in springs for my 3250 race weight.
