I don't know how much exactly it affects value, but it does. over the almost year i was searching, i saw that some of the factory-colored cars were snapped up quicker.

I'm a fan of the blues and greens, but i ended up finding a crystal turquoise car. I have a customer that is an expert on GTOs and pontiacs, and told him i liked the verdoro and other greens but hadn't come across many in good condition but found this car and i liked it. He said that many people end up painting them something like crystal turquoise or red or black etc, so there didn't happen to be a lot around that were nice that were kept green.

He felt that a, say, 30K crystal turquoise or other hot color car would be a couple more vs an exact same condition and optioned gto in verdoro green (if that was both their factory colors.

My OPINION is that a non-factory color car would be that little bit cheaper, like the CT vs Verdoro example he gave me. I was definitely open to non-factory color cars as long as it was a factory color it was repainted to, but if it was say blue, i better not see any green peeking out from ANYWHERE or i would've lowered my offer accordingly. but the only way to do that is to tear the car apart.

Just one recent shoppers insight.

Had a high end 68 GTO originaly Beige repainted Meridian turquoise. The color change probably cost me 5k at the time I sold it in 2011 {along with bad car market due to crappy economy. Will never buy a color changed {or non original motor car} unless its right on the money. As a matter of fact, will never buy any car on "speculation" unless its on the money. By the way, I prefer Meridian Turquise over both of the blues talked about here
