Default PY "shipping" disappointment

My wife bought her Dad a PY gift cert, 10% off a $50 gift certificate. So $45 bucks, right?

$56! How does the extra eleven dollars break down and how in the holy heck is this justified? Shouldn't be tax, her father will be taxed when he places his order. Handling charge? Placing it in an envelope? What does a stamp cost these days? 49 cents.

Offering a promotion on gift certs is great, but this really doesn't sit right with me.

Mitch, I think this got resolved a while ago but I figured I'd post the results just in case some might thing we're avoiding you. :)

This was a simple case of 'operator error'. Pam had just done a gift certificate for another person for a different amount and messed up the math.

However, we do charge a $5.00 fee to mail a gift card separately because it's like sending cash. It needs to go registered mail.

I am not involved in this matter, and I have no facts on what's going on. But could PY do like JEGS,? lets a person do and just print a gift cert from there home with the cert number on it. No mailing involved?
Just asking......not fighting......

It's a good idea and one we've thought of. The key is to serialize the gift certificates so that they can't be copied. Unfortunately, we don't have a system in place to manage that at this time. We're a bit smaller than Jeg's. Our entire business could probably fit in their showroom. :(

Ancient history. I didn't even know this got published- I told Pam she could delete this post. I thought these posts had to get approved before they could be viewed publicly. So I assumed it didn't get posted (with my permission) and that was the last I thought of it.

This entire issue was in fact resulting from human error when we were quoted an too much for gift certificate shipping.

I also have thought about a printable gift cert, sounds so simple on the surface.

Chris, thank you for addressing this and feel free to delete this thread.

Gift cards may be an easy option - check with your bank or EFT vendor.
