Can you install a motor (the original in this case) with Ram Air exhaust manifolds attached or do you have to install the manifolds after engine is in car?

I did mine after.

You can drop the motor in the car with the ram air manifolds attached.
To do it later requires jacking up the engine and removing the oil filter housing.

We have done it both ways.

It can be done either way but.....this was way easier.

I put it in with ra manifolds. I had to remove the stud nearest the driver side frame to clear frame. You can wait and install studs after it is in if you want.

You should always leave the studs out till the motor is in....makes it much easier.

If you like to install the engine and trans together then you'll have difficulty getting the manifolds past the front crossmember because the engine and trans need to go in at an angle. Dropping the engine straight down without the trans attached is much easier.

Definitely don't install the studs in the manifolds beforehand if you're using them. You'll need to use some old towels or something like that between the crossmember and manifolds as it all gets lowered into place to keep from scratching up the finish on the frame and manifolds.
