I was afraid of that.

Reference for what? How not to do things? I'm not even sure it's a Y88 with the wrong windshield trim. Wheels are wrong. Engine...well what do you say about that.
I think I'll pass. |

Never been a fan of painted rust, it looks worse IMO.

Is that the EFE valve attached to the back of the header?

Mike - That's pretty nice. You think I could trade MDP and a few NOS parts for that upgraded model?

I'm beginning to think Mike isn't getting it on a regular basis....other than cars that is.

Yeah, I did get a little jumbled up there. Y88's do that to me.....
I like Mike's contributions. Maybe he should start a Fine Bodied Firebird thread somewhere. Maybe in the Parts Wanted section. I also think he's starting to become an F-Body guy. He'll probably start selling those big motor, big cars, and try to find a 1970, big motor F-body. Do they have a Tilted Kilt in Dayton? Now that would be a cruise in opportunity in August.... I hope to get a lot done this weekend. |

Keep up the good work! See you in Dayton. Look forward to cruising and all...

Is that a lamp post or does that Chevy have a woody?

We need more cowbell...I think it is a Woody, but that's just me. I'm an optimist.
A few things got done today. The first is a set a plug wires. I bought some of the repop plug wire holders for 78's, and they are actually pretty nice. I bought boots and hardeware off of eBay and MPD scored some 2Q-'82 gray wire. We made the plug wire lengths based on what was on the car with a 1996 date code. They'll probably need adjusted for length once it's all done, but that's ok. There is a nice drawing in the service manual, but it shows the distributor vacuum on the wrong side which complicates issues a little. I also got a good picture from somewhere that helped. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, the motor is almost done, but it was more two steps forward and one step back today. The poly locks with the PRW rockers are too tall for the stock valve covers so I've got some shorter comp cams locks coming from Summit. Hopefully the comp locks and a thick gasket will get me the needed height. Regardless, until this is resolved the valley pan and intake cannot be bolted down which stops progress again. It's looking good though and will be right once it is finished. Tortoise and hare stuff. Here are a few pictures... ![]() ![]()

Lastly, the air cleaner is pretty much done. I got it powder coated and all the pieces are back together. I never could find yellow stripe vacuum hose, even from the Corvette guys, so I made a bunch using white strip vacuum line and yellow Marks A lot magic marker. It looks pretty good really. There has to be a better solution for the vacuum line, but this is it for now.

Bob, I run those same rockers in 1.5 ratio and couldnt use the tall or shorter Comp cams nuts, so I went with stock style brand new nuts and all worked well, with those Rockers, under factory chrome covers. Good luck!
