Default Windows Update Problem.

Every time I start my computer or wake it up from sleep mode I get an icon in my tool bar saying updates are available. And, every time it is the same update, the details of which follow this post. It is over 45 mega bytes but installs as soon as I click on it. So far it has installed about 10 times. How can I get it to stop showing up?

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - May 2015 (KB890830)

Installation date: ‎5/‎25/‎2015 9:53 PM

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Important

After the download, this tool runs one time to check your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps remove any infection that is found. If an infection is found, the tool will display a status report the next time that you start your computer. A new version of the tool will be offered every month. If you want to manually run the tool on your computer, you can download a copy from the Microsoft Download Center, or you can run an online version from microsoft.com. This tool is not a replacement for an antivirus product. To help protect your computer, you should use an antivirus product.

Assuming you are running Win7 or 8, try uninstalling this update in control panel programs section. It might be listed by the KB article number. Reboot and it will want to download one more time. If you are running XP, that might be the issue . Good luck!

XP has no updates since they quit supporting it.

I am running 8 and this thing pops up every time I start my computer. It is a fairly large file but downloads instantly every time I click on it.
Also. this update does not show up on my lap top also running 8.
If I uninstall it won't it just pop up again?
