Default dumb interior light question

finally replaced all the lights in my dash, looks great. the problem is the light on the heater control is dim, I thought it was the bulb so I bought one with the same numbers at pep boys. still dim. I went to a salvage yard this past weekend and got two bulbs out of wrecked 72 lemanses. still dim.. grr the contacts are good just the bulb is dimmer than the rest of the dash. could anyone post a bulb number I can buy that is brighter than stock? to me its like looking a a bright smile and a bad tooth. I would post the numbers on the bulb currently but im not at my garage. Thanks for any input, Pete.

Looking at the 1972 Pontiac Shop Manual Wiring Diagram I see that the heater control lamp should be fed by a grey wire. This grey wire is linked to the radio indicator lamp.
If your radio light is OK I think you need to look at the ground for your heater lamp.
Also I wish I could go to my salvage yard and find a 1972 to pull parts off of.

I have never seen a 72 in a junk yard.
