Now what did I do ? '68 a/c
We finally got everything hooked up on my '68 GTO with a'c.
When the controller is on heat ... we get cold air! When the air is on we get heat! Everything looks right as far as the cables. Is it possible to have the baffle inside the heater box reversed? The cam on top looks correct for a '68 GTO. First I thought I had a Chevelle box. Help would be appreciated. Ron

Does anyone have pics of the heater box cam assembly with the cables attached. I want to be sure I have the correct heater box for a '68 GTO w/air.
A shot of the internal hot/cold flapper would be great, if available. Something still not working right on my setup.  , Ron

Does the car have a heater shut-off valve? Get the wrong one on or mix up the hoses controlling it and you'll have heat on in AC mode and no heat anywhere else (ask me how I know...). It's really hard to screw up the mechanicals of the box itself.

The cool/hot slider works a cable that opens/closes the damper that directs air through the heater core. Hard to believe that could be backwards. Are you getting heat with the slider in cool position and cold air with it in hot position?
If the 68 system has a water cutoff valve then it may be the wrong one for the car. Some valves close with vacuum and some open up with vacuum depending on year and application. Does air come out of the proper vents in all of the selector switch positions? The dampers that control airflow are all vacuum operated. Its not unusual for the vacuum hoses to be connected wrong if that is your problem. But the vacuum hoses only affect where the air is directed, not the temperature of the air.

Wow thanks guys...
Scott, thanks for the pics. We are starting to believe it is in the box. The only thing that would cause it to act like it is would be the flapper. PontGuy, it is just the opposite of what you would expect. The heat comes out the correct locations when the cool is picked and reverse. Even "the toilet flushes" when we switch the power on  .Will pull the box after the holiday weekend. Thanks for the offer on the box Scott. It looks great. I'll get back either way when we find out for sure if that's the issue. Happy 4th of July! Ron

Another WTF entry...
Apparently the body shop I had do a frame-on restoration on the '68 had cobbled two heat boxes into one.
Not sure what was all done, but my present mechanic changed (reversed & modified) the cam on the top of the box so that it's working correctly. Scott, I really appreciate your pics and offer on your box. Hopefully, someone viewing this post will take advantage of your unit. Great part at a very reasonable price. Thanks again for the pics. Ron
