Default Hideaway vacuum actuators Ames

They still haven't fixed the known problem(s) with these. They won't work (for long) without gluing the upper seals to the top of the housing AND gluing that seal to the shaft then the seals must be lubricated as well. The inner seal is the issue as it makes/lets the shaft go up and down uncentered so on the upstroke the upper seal gets pushed off of the housing's sealing lip by the shaft flopping to the side. The grove in the shaft also is not the same size as the upper seal's grove.

I had one of the seals rip due to this even after doing all this and was told I needed to buy replacement seals and pay shipping. I could not recommend anyone buy these unless you just couldn't come up with a used pair of actuators with a good inner seal. The upper seals and dust seals are available and they are not easily seen once installed so why pay for problems? I don't want to turn the lights on now because I'm afraid I'll have to R&R everything all over again.

BTW Ames doesn't tell you everything you will need to do in order to not have droopy headlight doors due to these leak issues.
