"Walt Hansgen's huge practice crash at Le Mans on 7th April 1966 in the monsterous 7-litre Holman & Moody Ford GT40 Mk2 sportscar.
Walt lost it on a wet track crashing with a frighterning impact into the barrier as he tried to steer the car down an escape road. Walt raced pretty much everything during his career, finishing 5th at the US Grand Prix in 1964 in a Lotus. He won four SCCA Championships, raced in the Indy 500, finished on the podium in NASCAR and had much success in Sportcar racing."
