Default 1500 suburban,yukon xl

How many people use one of these vehicles to tow a enclosed race car trailer with everything in it car, tools, fuel, and golf cart? My trailer weighs around 8500 lbs. Looking at 2010 or newer with a 6.2. Thanks.

I use one to tow a 22 foot long enclosed trailer but it's a 1995 4x4 K2500 with a 6.5 diesel that I have owned since new. The suburban's long wheelbase is great for towing. The problem with the 1500 is the light duty springs and small brakes. The most important thing for choosing a tow vehicle are brakes that can handle the extra load. Also, the rear springs on a 1500 are not up to the load capacity and the nose of the truck will be too high in the air even with the load leveling spring bars on the hitch.

The towing capacity on 2010 1500 is only 5500 lbs. Your trailer is way over the limit.

I'd look for a 2500 instead - the towing capacity is 9500 lbs. They are much better suited to towing.

To get the 6.2 I think you have to get a 1500 Denali XL. If I'm not mistaken, the 2500 still gets the 6.0 engine. With that being said I tow a 24' enclosed trailer with my 2008 Sierra Denali 1500 pickup with no problem.

I would definitely want a 3/4 ton truck or Suburban. Heavy towing is hard on1/2 ton trucks because they don't have the big bearing rear axles. I have owned 5 3/4 ton GM trucks over the last 11 years with no trouble at all and as NJ Steve said the brakes are critical. You might can pull it with a 1/2 ton truck, but good luck stopping it! A brake box is a must if you don't want warped brake rotors. Good luck with your search!

The big axles are needed for reliability. The early diesel 2500 Suburbans with the 8600 GVW used a full floating axle similar to the 3500 series. They're great trucks but have NOOOOOO power (185 hp and 350 lbft. if I recall).
