I've been a BAAAADDDD Boy!!!
I've been slacking off because of the heat. I have been pecking a way at things a little at a time. I'll catch you up on that stuff. I tried working with the original dash but it turned out to be more of a hindrance than a help. So I removed the old "Purdy" chrome (heavy) dash and built a gauge panel frame welded to the steering wheel support. I ran angle aluminum stringers behind from side to side, and there will be two down below to attach the bottom of the dash to. This is the gauge panel with the 5 inch speedometer and one 2 5/8 gauge so far. ![]() ![]() You can see the angle runners that I will tie all of the other dash panels to behind the projected panel. In the second pick you can see the Lokar swinging spoon gas pedal assembly. I tried to run two individual cables, one to each carb but the 90 degree curve required to make them work caused a real crappy notchy/grinding feeling as the cables slid inside the sheaths. So I'm still working on that. But I originally intended to just use the spoon throttle assembly by itself until I realized the original factory gas pedal worked great to actuate the spoon assembly. If you look at the second pic you can see the set up down there. The trunk is pretty well laid out. Tank is mounted, gas filler is added on, the back outlet and a bottom outlet are all drilled and fittings are bolted in. With two outlets I have the option of pulling from the very bottom or the back bottom of the tank. The bottom one allows me to mount the pump under the trunk floor and the back bottom outlet allows me to mount the pump inside the trunk. The pump is a Magnafuel 500 with built in inlet filter and by pass regulator. -12 in and -12 out of the pump. I've made the tank outlets -16 with an adaptor down to the -12 at the pump so there is never any restriction feeding the pump. -12 all the way to the front regulator. -10 back to the tank. This is a shot of the trunk in all it's packed glory. Tank in place, radiator in place, pump in place near radiator outlet, -23 water return line, -23 water supply to front. Room for battery/batteries. And return water fill T to catch bubbles in the line. ![]() Pic of front water line cap fill T at firewall. ![]() Mark

I hear you on the heat, Mark. I haven't run my race car since early June and I've hardly been in Tucson. Get that thing going, so we have another Wenzler Gutsram up and running.

I started to cut and fit the Jersey material radiator shroud. It'll be cut and fit to drape tight around the radiator but flare out along the trunk floor all around the radiator. This will allow the cloth shroud (once soaked in resin and hardened) to shape itself to the exact floor contours to form a good seal. Once it is ready I'll make up a resin batch, soak the complete material, then lay it on and position it exactly. I'll cover everything underneath with tin foil so the shroud releases. The foil will either become part of the shroud and help deflect heat or I will remove it and use insulation under the shroud.
![]() ![]() ![]() I also added a black faced boost gauge instead of a white faced so it will be easy to differentiate it at a glance. The 5 inch tachometer will hang from the cage just to the left of the boost gauge so they are both close and easy to see. The tach is also black face (because I already have it, LOL). ![]() Yesterday I cut and fit the last piece of -20 water line so all of the coolant plumbing is ready to be pressure tested. I will go thru all of the joints/connections one last time to insure they are all tight. I still have to remove the tunnel ram to do all of the oil pressure sending and turbo supply lines off the back of the block. So the water system has to wait until all of that is done. Everything is intertwined, lots to do. Mark

Continued work on the radiator shroud and the dash. Previous posts show the forming of the shroud material. I have since "glassed the shroud in. I completely covered the shroud and assembly in aluminum foil to help the finished (hardened) shroud release.
![]() I had purchased a full gallon of resin and appropriate hardener. I had no idea how much resin the material would need for it to absorb so I bought a large plastic paint roll pan/tub, mixed all of the resin and hardener together in the gallon carton, and poured it into the paint pan. Took the one piece rolled up shroud material and thoroughly soaked it in the resin and Janet and I rolled it out on top of the radiator top cover and down onto the trunk floor. flared it out around the radiator assembly and pressed the material down into all of the crevices and bends etc of the floor. This is what it became. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll glue in foam insulation all around the top and around the core opening, and maybe insulate the sides later adding another layer of glassed material inside for more strength. Mark

I also got a lot done on my built from scratch dash. Here you can see some of the frame work behind the dash and the rectangle instrument pod welded to the steering support.
![]() This is the rear frame work with the addition of the filler sheet metal out on a makeshift work bench. Here the three water gauge holes are also drilled and rolled. ![]() This is the rear dash panel all covered and the gauges installed. ![]() This is the rear dash panels installed in place with the filler clipped on between the dash pad and the rear dash panel. ![]() Mark
