MPD drove the Illegal Alien car. He's in love with it and claims it as his own. I told him this weekend that I am going to start sending him the insurance and tax bills... The Black Car was driven by an 18 year old young man named Tristin and I think he's been marked for life. He's in a Vo-Tech program at school and works at the diesel fuel pump rebuild shop where Dave used to work. I needed a third driver and he got the nomination. He seemed like a great kid and was grinning from ear to ear. I got several pictures of him behind the wheel and I can just imagine the stories he is telling his friends today. It makes me feel good. I didn't get any hood down pictures because I am an idiot. I didn't even think about it until I got home and saw how cool the pictures looked. Next time... |

Okay, you're off the hook on that one, however you've been noticeably absent here and reportedly been trolling another board!

Hey, don't write me off yet....I'm still lurking around while I buff out the paint on one of my "other cars". Give me about 6 weeks until the Gold Car engine parts start rolling in from SD Performance and I'll be back full time and asking for favors and free advice.
BTW - did I mention that I wired in a battery tender feed on the NSX this weekend....

Got the model number on that? I should probably throw a couple of those in cars of mine.

http://www.amazon.com/Deltran-Batter...r+plus+charger Works great, and extra leads are available from Amazon. Since I use mine for the cars in my attached garage, I just have one Tender. Each of three cars have leads on them, and I connect it to a different car every couple days....

I use one of there multiple tenders to keep 2 tractors, a Polaris Ranger and 2 other 4 wheelers charged up at the farm.. Always work fine. Bought one of their solor powered tender deal, was something like 3ft x 1.5ft and never worked right.. But the AC powered units have always worked fine..

Here's the Tender I prefer. You can connect two cars to it at a time. They make units to which you can connect 4 vehicles, but I find it's a little easier keeping the wires sorted out and untangled with the two vehicle model. I have several and keep all the cars hooked up. You'll also want to get extra ring terminal connectors and 25' extension leads for each car. It used to be that half the time I went to start a car I had to dig out the battery charger. It now gathers dust. On the Hot Rods, I just open the hood when I park it and plug it in. The NSX has the battery mounted low in the front behind the spare tire and it made more sense to do an externally accessible connector.

Lloyd,
You were the one who noticed that the Green Truck got booted out of the Hot Rod Garage when the NSX showed up, so this one is for you... MPD and I spent this past weekend doing a full paint correction and polish on the Green truck. I had not waxed it since I bought it in 2002 and it was past due. I've really started to get this buffing gig down to a science and the truck turned out great. It was repainted in he late '90's, but there is no filler and the sheet metal is all original. The emblems are also all original and in amazing shape. It's currently showing 37,981 miles on the odometer. Tomorrow the Y88 starts getting deconstructed for the engine upgrade and underhood refresh. I'll be hanging out in the '78 Fbody section for a while..... Happy Thanksgiving! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks guys. A few shout outs.....
PB - How's the car coming along? Now that Adrian is done your beast should be getting some attention. Any update pictures? Boss - Are you reliving your youth with the IROC yet? Any familiar looking burns or stains on the upholstery? Tod - Yeah, trucks are cool. 70% of the people that stop in the HRG like the truck better than any other ride parked here. Norwood - maybe I can teach Mike to run a buffer and you can work a barter deal. Brewster - I want to see a picture of you and a big wallhanger from the Great North. Any luck this year? How about the Silver Car - making steady progress? With respect to the buffing, it's all about having the right machine, pads and compounds - and about 100 microfiber towels. Beyond that you just need the guts and desire to do it - just like everything else in life. I'd be happy to help any of you that really want to pick one up and learn how to use it. I'm thrilled I did as it's a great skill to have and not that hard. Over the last few months I've done the NSX, Yellow Car, Green truck and MPD's Caddy. With 2 guys it pretty much takes two days (16 hours) to really do it right. If you lay off the Knob Creek it might be a little quicker. PM or email me if your serious. |

Kind of going stir crazy here since the Gold Car is pretty much finished. I picked up a 70 date code right tail light lens at the Nats which I needed for the Black Car and decided to install it today. It's right lens was a 73 code. So I got it all sanded and buffed out today and it looks like brand new. Almost mint... I sanded with 600g, 1000g, 3000g, and 5000g. I then buffed it out with Menzerna SF4000. Thanks to Brewster for the assist.
I'm contemplating a big Black Car project, but not sure yet... Here's some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I know that itchy finger feeling! That's why we are playing with Gramma's car now.
Looking forward to watching whatever you decide to do! |
