Funny, I did almost the same thing with my 1987 Black/Grey leather 5.7 with T-tops. Bought it before it hit the showroom (on transporter) in June 1987. Traded it in for a new 1988 Corvette convertible. After about 15 years I wanted another Iroc and started looking for my original one. Called the dealer that I traded it for the corvette and they gave me the vin. Did a search and located my Iroc's current owner about 4 hours away. Talked to them and they told me they still had it but it "was outback on blocks and one of the T-tops was missing" They said If I wanted it they would sell for $5,000.00 I asked had it been covered they said "no". I said "no thank you". About a month later they called again and said they would take $4,500. again I said no thank you. Found a 1987 Black / Black custom interior 5.7 with T-tops and 28,000 miles in Iowa and bought that one. Glad you have better luck.
