Hi Everyone,
My Nephew is in school in Houston, TX. His non-Pontiac car needs rebuilt calipers, pads, and possibly rotors. The dealership wants to use all dealer brand parts, which quadruples the cost. Can anyone in the area recommend a reputable brake shop that is honest, and won't take advantage of a young man? Thanks,

Dealership,ugh
![]() Maybe somebody down that way knows an honest shop that will do it right, and for a fair price. Maybe try PM'ing PY member "Lloyd-TX" He's in Houston, and I think he runs a shop down there.

Don't use Midas as they will lay him away worse then the dealer. He'll end up with all new everything & have a $ 1500.00 bill when he get done.

Good teachable moment for him. Tell him what needs to be done, and why, and suggest that he uses the Internet to research how much it should all cost. I wish somebody had taught me that when I was younger.

Thanks Everyone. One of the biggest problems with the dealerships is simply the cost of their parts. And I (he) certainly do not need dealer brand parts for something like brakes.

Just don't "cheap out" too much when it comes to brakes. The lower end pads (i.e. Autozone 19.95) will only last 6 months or so,and leave dust all over your rims.
On the other hand, some places will way overcharge for a brake job. Hope it works out for you guys.
