Default Formy at the PSMCD

Made it to the PSMCDs with my recently finished Formula. Qualifying in a new car proved to be a challenge. Qualified with a best of 14.30 on a hot humid Fri. Drew a Studebaker for race day. Got spanked by the Stude in the first round even though I ran a 14.14. The Stude failed to make round two due to battery failure so I made two bye runs. (Probably saved me from getting spanked two more times) All in all a good time even with a couple short rain delays. Car will get a shift kit before any more racing. A 13.99 would put a smile on my face.

VERY NICE...and ALOT of fun,...I BET!

I've head that loosing the rear spoiler is usually worth a couple of 10th's.......if you REALLY want to get around that Studewaker

Awesome!

Car looks great going down the track.

Do you have a higher stall converter in it?

The Stude probably had a supercharger on it so don't feel too bad.
More time on the Formula will get it quicker.

Congrats Steve! I did a quick look at threads started by you and didn't see reference of what engine CID you're running in your '71, D or Round Port, etc.? Thx. Keep us posted on any "tuning" changes.

Steve, your car was very nice as I got a chance Friday evening to look at it as I was scooting around in the golf cart to give the tack and pits the 'once-over' before closing the gates. It was very nice and I can post a few pictures I took once I get them downloaded and resized.

Alvin, It's a Formula 400 with a TH400 trans. Steve will have to tell us what the rear gear is, but I did get a chance to see one run in the midst of all our running around and I thought I saw a 14.30 et in the high 90's mph.

Thanks, Dennis for the compliments and the pictures. I am running a 3:42 rear gear and a slightly higher stall converter. Yes, the Stude was supercharged. I am just not very consistent off the line and my ETs were all over the map?? Not enough practice as my wife says. Oh well its all fun.

don't feel bad about getting beat by a Studebaker. many a person has been in the same situation. my dad was a Studebaker lover and they did run hard.
