Just a thought as was mentioned. Monitoring Air/Fuel with both intakes.

Doing a few little mods, taking a bit of weight off the front end, reducing rolling weight, adjusting intial timing, finally port matching my torker 2 for a start..

No real updates yet..I've ran the performer rpm a few weeks ago...its in the other thread...I'm presently doing a few tweaks..hoping to knock down the et and raise up the mph.Goal is another 11.3x timeslip this year at 120...first one was wind and weather aided..

Weather permitting finally hitting the dragstrip Saturday, and a few more times this year.Just installed a Hughes th 350 with a low first gear set, seems to work good!Replaced front wheels with 15x4's and tires with M/T 165/85/15,dropped 7 lbs each side ,replaced 40lb battery with a Braille 2015 15 lb battery(works great),removed rpm intake and replaced with my Torker 2 which is finally port matched. Also replaced rear wheels which had quite a wobble to them...With good traction and decent air..should run in the low 11.3 range maybe quicker.

Yes different tranny altogether...did a few test runs on the street works good...,gasket matching and blending my torker 2 this week...also found my vacuum port plugs weren't flush with the top of the inside of the runners, have made all three almost flush, and will be when I'm finished.

Went to the track Friday...had to test the port matched Torker 2 and new transmission under full power with a timeslip...Track was not prepped and very slippery..spun hard after initial launch..ran a 11.6780 at 120.37,60 ft was 1.7619 with a hard spin ...pretty content with that...mph was even with the best ever..tranny worked fine, shifted quick, engine is much happier again with the Torker 2 back on...Heading to Grandbend Motorplex Friday on a much better track..see how it does.Car should 60 ft in the low 1.6's with the 3.08 gearing and 28 tall tire..

Thanks for the update.....do you think traction issue was strictly track related, or do you think the steep gear set may have been to blame?

Hey Ernie,
Thanks for your extensive testing and feedback, particularly your success with using a 3200 stall verter and a 3:08 gear . My tight 10" Continental works great with the tall gear and I dropped 300 rpm @ 75 over my old 3:42 gear in my 550hp TA with no detectable change in acceleration .

On a side note..my new tranny as recommended by the builder uses Type F...I flushed my convertor, cooler and lines to insure no Dexron left...and I swear my trap rpm is down slightly..not like it was an issue.I wonder if the Type F has tightened up the convertor slightly...? |

Did testntune last night at Grandbend Motorplex ran three times..11.408 at 119.96 with a 1.731 60ft,11.457 at 118.82 with a 1.718 60 ft and a 11.435 at 118.73 with a 1.714 60 ft.
Last two runs were into a good headwind..pretty content with the times with the soft 60ft...a bit of fine tuning could drop the 60ft times. My fuel pressure also now drops to 3 lbs by half track which is an issue. I did manage to outrun my buddy's Chevelle..we were betting on best timeslip for the night...he ran in the 11.5's with one slip at 11.45.He is 555 cuinch 110 octane 3.73 gears... |
