If you google in images you will find good measurements, also the 69 assembly manual has it in the hood blueprint. But if you can buy a paper template from Sweet Judge it's worth paying.

Wait for Sweet Judge. His template is accurate and the thick template gives a margin of error for dummies like me who decided AFTER painting the hood to put on a hood tach.

Default HOOD TACH TEMPLATE

I picked up a gutted ram air hood a while back with the hood mounted tach from a local swap meet I wanted to use to do a gto clone, little rusty and missing the tach and inserts but still salvageable for me. If you still need a template I could do a paper template of the corner where the tach location is.

I'd be curious to see the underside. IIRC the hole just nips off a 1/4" or so of an underhood cross structure if it's in the right spot.

I would love to get my hands on that temp plate if available . I sure there is enough of us 68 owner who could make it worth it to someone . I was thinking in dash but remember a had friend with his 69 hood tach. If I remember even back then they were problematic, but who care with today's technology I'm sure they are much more reliable , Doug

I'll look at my original 68 with tach hood tomorrow. I should be able to get some good measurements and pics. It's standing against the wall. The tach is off of it too.

Here's some pictures of the hole. You can see the original Solar Red Paint under the tach outline. I'm not sure if the notched portion of the hole is correct. It appears to be a factory hatchet job. My template is very crude. I'll have to refine it using a poster sheet. I only had the cardboard at the shop. You are looking at the compartment side of the hood. Let me know if you need a specific measurement.

Plenty of experts here (I'm not) but I recall original tach holes cut into the support a bit (top piece in your middle pic). If it matters I'd wait for the experts.. Those pics don't look like the original location IMO.
