Let's see...
-have dealt with a ton of vendors and subs over the last month that are hunting. archery season here, gun season for deer about to start.
-it's mid Fall, and for many of us there is a ton to do outside to prepare for Winter. For me personally, with one remodel finishing up, moving, another remodel ongoing, and a building about to go up, it's been like moving a mountain the last 90 days. Will not be able to trim it down from 75 hours a week till nearly Christmas.
-with a good sized segment of the hobby, late Fall and the Winter is project build time. For for the organized and experienced, it's arms and elbows, and tapping on the computer doesn't make it as a priority. personally, have no problem with that way (traditional way) of doing things.

Eh, I'm in the garage bringing a car back to roadworthy status and lining up another for an engine refresh this winter. After that I've got a 3rd car to finish the interior and trim on. I've got plenty to do and socializing or listening to arguing\whining on forums aren't exactly top priority.

To me this is the benchmark for what a good hobby and brand specific forum should be.

I think that most of the real good questions about restorations have been asked and answered for the most part, which is a good thing.

This forum does a great job of feeding a significant portion of my Pontiac addiction day to day. Keeps me on my toes and learning new things. No other internet site comes close for me, facebook included. I pay my dues with no hesitation because of how the forum is run and the benefits I get from it.

For the most part the I believe the people here aren't fly by night Pontiac guys and are here to stay whether they have no Pontiacs, one Pontiac or one thousand.

Glad there aren't any ads. I'm still bummed about the loss of PY, but so happy this forum was saved, and is alive and well.

I think dying is such a strong word to use. I do think its not as active as it once was and many have flocked to the lost abyss of social media. Theres no shortage of activity there but the knowledge base here is the most significant on the web. Threads started like "Motor Monday, Taillight Tuesday and Front End Friday" that have started here recently all came from Facebook.

Having said this, Ive also noticed that quite a few of the "usual suspects" dont post here anymore.

I've been busy busy busy! Usually this time of year I have "0" side work...not this year. I'm also sad to say I don't have a running Pontiac right now but have tons of parts I will be listing as I'm getting old and reality says not to die with all this stuff! :-)

This board will never die. I was here a long time ago, went and played with some other cars and came back. It does seem just like yesterday that I was one of the youngest and now I'm right in the middle.

The hobby will never die either. It will just change. These older cars are getting to expensive for the younger folks to afford let alone restore so they are doing what guys have always done. Take cheap cars and fix the up. My son gets his permit in a couple weeks. He has his taste in cars (that is not mine) but he appreciates all of them and the work that goes into them. As far as not posting much, well that's true. I started to build a shop here at my house, and that got interrupted when I used the rest of my capital to start a business.

Business is going well, and I just now am finishing up the shop.

First project is a 61 Falcon. I have room to have at least one more project on site if I don't take the body off, so my '68 LeMans will be in there shortly. My '67 will be third, mostly due to a lot of rust repair.

Neither are restorations.

The Search tool has had some issues here and some members see nothing wrong posting up a question that sure, may have been asked in the past. No one really wants a reply like "it's in the manual" or "old question, do a search". If a new member goes away with a negative or "hurt" feeling, that's one less person feeling good about this board and their PMD love affair. I can understand why many questions remain unanswered, it's the better, polite way to handle it.

We're very lucky to have this site, I'm usually here at least 3-4 times a week and can never get enough rereading old threads. My PC's in our bedroom and for years my wife's bugged me that there's more to the Web than PY. Really?

Like Stewart said, I'm also guilty of not contributing much but I'm a lousy writer.
