S&W M&P Shield in 9mm.

Mine shot 3-inches to the left out of the box, front sight needed alignment. Both my sons also own the Shield, no issue with theirs. Mine was corrected. All of us are pleased with the Shield.

My carry is a XDS in .45 but admit it's a little fat and heavy. I do have a Sig P238 but can't find a holster that I like. Hammer back takes some getting used to.

Is the laser built in, or add on?

I've been looking at the LC9, but might be small for my mits. Saw the SR9c, and thought it might be a better option. I like that laser.

Tonight my friend told me his interest in the S&W M&P9c and the Shield version. Watched vids and was really impressed by the M&P.

I will have to go try some of these on this weekend for size, features, and ergo fit!

I have a Glock G42 that I really like. But I would like to pass this one on to my wife and get myself a G43. G42 will fit in your pocket, and G43 is only lightly bigger and uses 9mm.

It's an add on from Crimson Trace. You can find one for about 165.00 or so. There are many out there, I wanted one that looked like it was part of the gun not hanging down looking bulky. The laser on/off is at the trigger guard is really convenient. You can see the on/off behind the trigger guard on the stock.

Went to a gun show up at the Big E yesterday with my father in law,and they had Shields for $365.

Come to find out,S&W came out with a new Performance Center Shield.Seems like everyone is trying to get rid of the 'old' Shields.

Well, the shield wasn't on sale today so I didn't get it. But, BDHABT may be onto something.

For CC get a small frame, single stack no smaller than 380 cal. It's a good compromise for concealability.

That is what the S&W Shield is. I am looking at the 9mm.

I know you are already looking at the 9mm, but something else for anyone else to consider is ammo cost.

9mm's are about a dime cheaper per round than .380's.
9mm's seem to be more plentiful at the stores as well.

Brings up the Q: what do you CCW holders do when crossing state lines, etc? Forget you're concealed @ airport, etc. = Forfeiture of weapon and possible federal charges?

I haven't crossed any state lines, and MOST states have CC reciprocity with Texas anyway. And - I REFUSE to fly commercial.

What I absolutely have to be careful of is schools, government offices and post offices. I carry all of my waking hours and I'm so accustomed to the feel that I forget about these "soft targets"!

Yep, Texas allows open carry as of January 1, but I'll continue to pocket carry. I chose the DeSantis V5 pocket holster for my Ruger. At least with the new open carry law I won't have any worry about printing.

Oh and be sure you purchase the LC9s or LC9s Pro. Both are striker-fired and have an infinitely better trigger feel than the original hammer-fired LC9.
