Re: the chrome channel that installs on the rear quarter window and holds the weatherstrip.
Installed a repro today and not real happy with the results. Looking for some tips before I do the other side. I now see that Ames says the supplied setting channel ( rubber npbetween glass and channel) is .060" and is tight. They say a .047" is available and can be used. Mine was very tight and and made it difficult to install and looks like it slightly bent or rolled in the vertical direction as I pushed and tapped it on the window. Also used some weatherstrip adhesive and wondering if that just made it more difficult installing the channel.

So what have others done? Use the ..047" setting channel?
Should any weather strip adhesive be used?

I used the .047 on my 68 bird 1/4 window. I put the setting on the window and firmly pushed the chrome channel on. I did this on a nice hot day. It worked perfectly for me and has stayed on so far.
