The only time any of these guys could even come close to the rear bumper of Kye Kellys car was when he lost traction. That is a puropse built track car being put on the street. I paid the 50 bucks to watch monza and doc run at richmond dragway just to see the cars and how they were built. Pretty nice cars and well built for what they were doing. Down to race anytime anywhere? A friend of mine helps with a 4000 pound chevy pickup that will run in the 4s. He wanted to run them for no less than 3000. Answer? No way man were are just here to run eachother. Im sure that was part of the contract they have to show up there. It made the track a bunch of money and got the people out to watch. Thats a great thing. People wanted to see these street cars. If it was a street pro mod race I doubt it would have done as well.

I also gave a ET's of what I think those cars are running......7.20's-7.70's. I also stated that after the top 5 it DROPS off a lot......ET wise. I would never race my Race Car on the street or an unpreped track (although Milans is damn close to it) that's just an accident waiting to happen!!!! Read post 248 & 249.......there are other people posting in this thread, some are actually racers! LOL! GTO George Last edited by GTOGEORGE; 12-30-2015 at 02:36 PM. |

I guess the point is you can be a "one trick pony" or you can enjoy lots of different things. Its the Holidays, get off the I RACE bs and CONTRIBUTE to HELPING others next year go faster vs playing the same old "I race" tune year after year.

The reason I joined these forums was for the help tom. I bought my GTO 6 years ago with the intent of a full restore mod. Then I changed my mind then decided for a nice street car then changed my mind again, because I had no help, no direction and am an 80s baby so lack of information. Since I joined and other forums I gained knowledge and perspective, and gradually made my way over here. Almost done building my street strip car. A Lil nervous about my combo but we will see. But to the point at hand. Not fast enough was the quote, fast enough for who? It's your car for your purpose. I am hoping to be in mid 10s. That's fast enough. 3/4 of you guys would dust me, doesn't matter fast enough. Even when these message boards get off subject the am out of information spoken or typed is a great deal of help to us novices who want to join in the hobby. I don't see the point in arguing what's fast enough. Because from what I have seen posted a track can negate any ones fast enough and make it not enough. To all keep handing out the knowledge you learned over blood sweat and cursing. And if any of you are in the Los Angeles area I would love to pick your brains

I have forgotten more about race cars than you have ever learned over the years, and it doesn't bother me one bit that I did forget. You can play one song and you don't play it very well, as others have point out. Keep dreaming. Tom V.

That brings up a good point, the topics name............actually shouldn't be NHRA saved my life........just saying? I'm sure his roll cage was NHRA certed! Or how about this one........if they would have been racing on a well prepped drag strip (like a car with that much power should have) would the mustang have lost traction and run into Justin? the way Justin tells it, he brought the car to don dial for some upgrades. don refused them and would only work on the car if things were done his way. is it NHRA certed, don't know. did don build a safer race car, absolutely.
I've seen cars loose traction down track on prepped tacks too. maybe you remember warren Johnson's comments after loosing traction down track at an NHRA national event. as a counter point, would dave's wreck have been as bad and him as hurt, if it was on the street where there's no jersey barriers to hit. maybe it would have gone off into a field and not hit anything or rolled. racing cars is dangerous where ever it's done. different venues present different dangers. |
