So - I finally got around to installing the replacement gears in my power vent windows... and... they don't fit.
I ordered the gears from Hyro-E-lectric (Hydroe.com) but don't recall specifically which gears. I want to say they were for a '67 Eldorado. The issue is the base of the gear (where it protrudes through the housing) is too long and too large in diameter. I can remedy that - but - in addition the diameter of the gear portion it too large (the worm would need to be farther outboard to accommodate). Also - in the process of fooling around with it now the LH motor doesn't work anymore. Here's my request(s): a) Anybody know for sure exactly which gear will work for a '63 GP? b) Anybody have a complete working motor and gear assembly (LH) that they would be willing to sell? Thanks in advance - K

Found these at OPGI, and they are on their way.
I'll see if I can get the motor fixed locally. K

Local guy says he can't do anything with that motor. It acts like it has an internal short but looks ok inside to me (no sign of burning or melting).
So I am officially looking for a power vent window motor for a '63 GP (or advice on how to fix this one). K http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...30#post5513330

Keith. Call this guy and speak with him. You can reference my name. His name is Frank. He rebuilt both of my vent window motors with new gears. He should have what your looking for. (352)688-8199. All the best, Ziggy

By way of update:
New gears are now installed and vent windows working. Left door: all switches working and the door is buttoned up for good. Had to run an additional wire through the door, under the IP and into the passenger door in order to get "vent window open" working. Right door: switches were flipped for correct orientation and reinstalled. Everything works except passenger side window "down". Wiring is ok, and switch checks ok, but the interface between the wiring and switch is (apparently) not ok. New connector on order from our host and I'll finish it up when the parts arrive. Thanks for all your help - K
