Default Beech Bend

Looks like they got a little rain at Beech Bend. As of just after 2pm central time, they're still drying the track.

It'll take 7 round wins to win this one.

Adam Davis & Bryan Phillips won their 1st round of Stock elims.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

Tim Gillespie & Matt Tankersley won their 1st round in S/G. So, we got at least 4 Pontiac powered cars in the Sunday action.

Yeah, it may take a real good light to win the semi final. Peter's opponent has cut a .001 & a .000. You can't get much better than that.

But, Peter has won a lot of races, so I won't bet against him.

Congrats to Peter for another Pontiac powered national event win !

I also just noticed that Peter ran about 2 tenths under his qualifying time, for the heads-up GT/CA semi-final win.

The big event this week is called the Midwest Nationals. In Stock, the Pontiac faithful are represented by Randi Lyn Shipp, Julie Biermann, Don Turk, & Adam Davis. Randi Lyn qualified #3 in Q-1.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

As of post time, SS Q-1 has not been run yet, but there are 4 Pontic Super Stockers on the pre-entry list. They are: Peter Biondo, Greg Meyer, Mike Morgan, and Bill Rink.

http://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEven...MI1&cc=7&rn=20

Also, Matt Tankersley is on the Super Gas list.

http://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEven...I1&cc=10&rn=20

There's also a race out West, in div 7. There are several Pontiacs entered. Looks like at least 4 Stockers & 3 Super Stockers. Thy're expecting a rain-out today.

Good luck to all Pontiac powered racers this week !

Out in Utah, looks like Leo had some problems with his Stocker, finishing on the bottom of the Q-1 list. Hope he gets it fixed for elims.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

Don Kennedy & Carroll Warling qualified in the #3 & #4 positions, in SS.

All the Pontiac Stockers survived E-1 ! Don Turk won a really close race, with both drivers cutting a good light & running their dial-in.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

It's still raining out West. But, they expect sun by noon.

The last 2 Pontiacs got knocked out in E-3.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

Out in div 7, most of the 1st race of the doubleheader got rained out. So, they're gonna finish both races today.

In the 1st race of the div 7 double header, Scott Burton survived 3 rounds of Stock elims, with his '70 RA IV Formula.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r=100#indextop

But, he just barely broke out, in the quarter final round, when his opponent cut a .004 light.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

Don Kennedy made it to the final 5, in SS.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...19282#indextop

Both Brad Burton & Leo Glasbrenner made the top 10, in SS.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

Maybe the Pontiac guys will do better in the 2nd race.

There's a National event on the East coast, this weekend. But, yesterday's schedule got washed out.

They're trying to get the track dried out, so the action can begin today.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

There are a few Pontiacs entered. According to the pre-entry list, Randi Lyn Shipp & Adam Strang will be running Stock, and Sam Biondo will be running SS.

Good luck to these Pontiac powered racers !

Looks like there are now 6 Pontiac powered Super Stock cars qualified. They are driven by Keri Angeles, Robert Cruzen, Don Kennedy, Scott Burton, Leo Glasbrenner, & Larry Maxwell.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop

So, that makes 15 Pontiac powered cars entered, in this race. I think that's the most I've seen in recent years, at any big NHRA event.
