well, after discussing the spoiler with Bob, he has decided to leave it up to me what spoiler if any to use.so i have become extremely talented with my mitor saw, here is the first prototype of what is to become. I will be issuing a patent on this, so please respect that. Also, i will be accepting orders soon.

Tom, that is just what I envisioned. I knew I made the right decision entrusting the Black Car to your talented care. It's big enough to hold a couple of drinks, a picnic lunch, and an iPad. Maybe you should also patent a deluxe model using a 2" X 12" for the horizontal piece. This would be the "Tailgate Model" (play on words intended) designed to hold a Coleman cook stove and small portable bar....

Well, a good bit got done today. The front and rear sway bars, and rear drop links got media blasted and finished. Instead of painting them, I decided to use the ECS Rust Prevention Magic. They finished out nicely, and I love the look of the bare metal. Next will be the driveshaft. I think it will fit in my blast cabinet cocked at an angle.
The EVAP stamped charcoal canister hose also got finished. I finally got a stamp pad I liked and it went pretty smoothly. The "ink" on the stamp pad doesn't dry hard like paint, so after stamping it I sprayed it with adhesion promotion and flat clear for plastic. It really came out bitchin. I shoved a 1/4" steel rod in the hose to keep it straight and 1/4" tape to give a layout line with measured marks that delineated where each stamp went. There was no way to make a jig to hold everything due to the small diameter of the hose. To get a good print from the rubber stamp you have to roll the hose back and forth. Here's a few pictures.

Well, more progress, but a lot is left to do. We took advantage of the beautiful weather today and drug the engine outside. Wet sanded the valley pan and stopped the oil pan. Primed both with high build primer and wet sanded. Re-primed and left it to sand once the engine is ready for paint. Dave got the power steering pump rebuilt and it is all back together and ready. The can was powder coated, and the pump face got Chassis Black. Lastly, the fan shroud is finished and ready. I know that painting the shroud isn't everyone's cup of tea, but this one had to be painted due to some prior damage. I used the SEM Bumper Coater and it looks really good. Oh, and I got 4' more EVAP 1/4 hose finished giving me 8' total now.

BTW, don't lose that brass bushing sleeve that is sitting on the snout of the water pump hub. You'll need that to properly center the fan.
Oh, and the SEM Landau Black seemed to be closer to the flat black of the original shroud finish if you want to give that a try. That's what I have used previously. |
