I was watching the hour special before the auction.
I kept shaking my head at the main BJ guy, he kept on saying over and over "we have a lot of VIN number one cars this year." You would think a guy that's been around cars as much as he would know better. They did talk a bit abut some of the rare Ponchos they have this year including one of the Swiss cheese cats.

Not there, but just watched a 69 Firebird convertible, 400 auto, reported as a #s match, blue on black deluxe interior and black top. Sold for $37,000 a little low to my thinking.
And a 76 T/A 455 4speed, Red on tuxedo, most options. Sold for $38,500, higher then I would have thought.

I watched yesterdays Scottsdale today at lunch. Some of the cars sold were good deals, others not. The first two days are the best as far as prices to quality ratio go. You can buy one of those decent cars and not be afraid to go to cruise night.
Lots of misinformation out there describing the cars as usual. I muted the TV when some blond described a 64 Pontiac GTO tri-Power a 325 hp engine. I'm sure glad I have a DVR. Mute the overbearing music, and the misinformation, and what the host did in the back seat of the car featured when he was a teenager, skip the uninteresting cars and you have a one day show that last for twelve minutes at best. |

Eagerly awaiting the '63 Superduty to go across the block. It has a reserve though.

Unless something has changed, BJ always goes to commercial when a Pontiac
arrives on the block. |

Just before the $100,000 750mile 1980 S.E. T/A a 1977 S.E. T/A 400ci auto #match restoration car sold for $75000. The buyer was Richard Rawlings from Gas Monkey garage. I never would have thought these cars would go that high.

I used to go almost every Carlisle PA show back in the late 80 through the mid 90's. There was a guy up there that always had a pair of TA's or firebirds up on a display stand that were always supposedly 500 mile original mileage cars with the plastic bags still on the seats. They were clean low mileage cars but we always speculated he had found a warehouse full of interior seat bags to add to the cars after some super cleaning and detailing work. It was hard to believe he could keep finding these cars in such immaculate pristine condition but the buyers never seemed to care if they were really that original, they sold every show for 10-15k which seemed like crazy money for those back then. The next show, he'd have another pair of them and they'd sell again. We laughed about how those guys were probably master artists putting junkers back into perfect condition with a couple of ex-showroom guys coaching the cars to perfection and were taking all these guys to the cleaners on the cash. Damn, I sure wish I'd bought one of them back then, 100k for an 81 turbo-TA??!?!?!? I looked at one on a used car lot with super low mileage on it years ago for the wife. It was pretty, white with a silver interior. we passed on it because she didn't like the silver interior and also it was a Canadian car and had a KM speedo in it. Guy offered some cardboard sticker to put over the glass so it would tell mph instead!
Definitely agree on the DVR thing, it's unwatchable live with all the moronic chatter and commercials. Not sure I get a full 12 minutes of viewing time out of the 3 hours though, you must have a greater interest range than me on the cars! |

Live Stream!
No commercials, No on stage experts, No goofy ring-man antics, just car after car after car... I stream while doing other work and you can see the lot list as the Pontiac's are coming up

Rawlings is always complaining on his show about how broke he is. He made some comment about knowing what he likes in a car...he won't be able to flip that T/A and make a profit...
